Poi workshops encouraging fun, community and teamwork Clare from FirePoise has been regularly teaching poi and poi dancing to young and old in Northern Ireland for at least five years.
Poi - which translates as 'weight on the end of tethers' - was a traditional Maori tool, used to improve the warrior's strength and coordination. Today, poi is used by people around the world as a means of getting fit and flexible, having fun, and meeting lovely new people.
(FirePoise use fire poi as one of their many props during fire shows... but of course, we don't teach beginners to play with fire!) Community Workshops FirePoise have facilitated many poi workshops in community centres around Northern Ireland - and in some cases, we have helped our students learn the basics of poi and a simple routine, which they can then use as part of a festival or parade (maybe using flags, or glow poi!)
Groups always find it to be a fun, and challenging, workshop class - especially when Clare then delivers a fire demonstration outside!
Poi classes are best suited to anyone over eight-years-old and a secure, safe indoor space is required - preferably with good overhead clearance. FirePoise tutors all carry public liability insurance and Child Protection certificates. Team-Building Days FirePoise are pleased to offer a completely unique experience for corporate and team-building events in Northern Ireland and Ireland.
We are now able to offer fire poi training group lessons - for companies and firms eager to encourage a renewed sense of positivity, energy and enthusiasm among their staff.
FirePoise will take small groups of people, training them during the afternoon in the basics of fire spinning and safety, before encouraging each individual to take 'their first spin' (individuals must meet a required competency level).
A photographer will be supplied to ensure your company receives a fantastic album of images of a never-to-be-forgotten experience.
The team-building experience can be held independently, or as part of a bigger team-building event at adventure centres across the country.
